KOOKABURRA JEANNEAU SUNRISE 34 (1985)
An article in Yachting Monthly said the following about the Sunrise:
"Jeanneau’s reputation for producing fast, sporty cruisers was already well established when the Sunrise was introduced in 1984. The boat was an immediate hit, with more than seventy sold in the UK alone in four years. Club racers accounted for a large part of the demand, since the boat quickly became known for her speed, and was well able to give out-and-out racing yachts a run for their money."
Kookaburra is the "owners" version giving six berths in three cabins, forgoing the extra after cabin of the "charter" design. This results in a much more spacious saloon, and roomier heads, which comes complete with a water heater and shower.
Another option offered by Jeanneau for this class of boat was the swing keel, instead of the more common fin. This enables the wetted area to be reduced when off the wind, optimising the performance when using the cruising chute. With the centreboard raised, by use of the winch on the saloon table, her draft is reduced from 5ft 11in to just 3ft 9in, useful in crowded anchorage's, or where drying out is necessary.
Powered by a new 28HP Beta diesel, she is fast and manoeuvrable when motoring, and her new roller genoa and slab reefing mainsail, make her easily managed under sail. With a pressurised hot and cold water system, and warm air central heating throughout, she is a roomy, fast and comfortable yacht for six.
Note - No weekend charters from May until the end of August available for this yacht.
